A 41-year-old engineer was looted at gunpoint while traveling on the Pune-Mumbai highway in the early hours of Monday. The victim, Santosh Giri, a resident of Kondhawe Dhawade and an engineer at a blood testing machine manufacturing firm, was robbed of ₹3,000 in cash and his mobile phone.

Incident Details

According to Giri’s complaint, he had accepted a shared ride in a white car while heading to Mumbai via Mumbai-Pune Expressway. However, after passing Tathawade, the vehicle was diverted onto the old Mumbai-Pune highway. When Giri questioned the route change, one of the passengers threatened him with a gun and demanded his belongings. The assailants later dropped him near Mamurdi before fleeing.

Police Investigation Underway

Sanjay Narale, PSI at Warje-Malwadi Police Station, confirmed that a complaint has been filed, and authorities are analyzing CCTV footage to identify the suspects. Police sources revealed that Giri had unknowingly shared the ride with criminals who later turned hostile.

A case has been registered under sections 309(4), 115(2), 351(2), and 3(5) of the BNS (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita). Investigations are ongoing to track down the accused.
