Pune: Fake IAF Officer Arrested in Joint Operation by Military Intelligence and Police
Pune, May 19, 2025:Â A man impersonating an Indian Air Force (IAF) personnel was arrested in a joint operation by the Southern Command Military Intelligence and Khadki Police in Pune.
In a coordinated effort, the accused, identified as Gaurav Kumar (son of Dinesh Kumar), was apprehended on 18th May at 8:40 PM in the Kharadi area following a tip-off about his suspicious activities.
During the operation, authorities seized several items used for deception, including:
- Two IAF T-shirts
- One pair of IAF combat pants
- One pair of IAF combat shoes
- Two IAF badges
- One tracksuit upper
Police revealed that the accused had been posing as an IAF officer to deceive people, particularly women, by falsely claiming to be a defense official.
A case has been registered under Section 168 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for impersonating a soldier, sailor, or airman. Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the fraud and any potential security threats. Further details are expected soon.
