Pune, 22 April 2025: In a major crackdown on street crime, the Pune Police Crime Branch has rolled out a stringent â€˜Action Plan’ targeting habitual criminals who openly brandish weapons and spread terror across the city and suburbs. Over 4,000 repeat offenders with serious criminal histories have been placed under a special surveillance radar.

Key Highlights of the Action Plan:

✅ Detailed Criminal Profiling

  • Police are compiling detailed dossiers on criminals, including past cases, court chargesheets, crime patterns, and preventive actions taken.
  • Special focus on offenders under MCOCA, MPDA, murder, attempted murder, rape, molestation, burglary, and illegal weapon possession.

✅ Enhanced Surveillance & Intelligence

  • CCTV monitoring, mobile tower tracking, social media scrutiny, and informant networks to track criminal movements.
  • Senior inspectors in each police station to monitor high-risk criminals.

✅ Immediate Detention & Preventive Measures

  • “Zero tolerance” for public intimidation—repeat offenders to be detained immediately under preventive laws.
  • Police to hold public meetings (corner meetings) and engage with citizens, builders, and business owners for real-time complaints.

✅ Crime Statistics (2019-2024) â€“ 37,408 Criminals Recorded

  • Murder: 1,388 | Attempted Murder: 4,529
  • Rape: 2,525 | Molestation: 3,936
  • Chain Snatching: 393 | Burglary: 2,722
  • Illegal Weapons: 804 | Vehicle Theft: 4,247

✅ Zone-wise Offenders Under Watch

  • Zone 1: 430 | Zone 2: 771
  • Zone 3: 675 | Zone 4: 903
  • Zone 5: 1,065 | Total: 3,844
