Pune: Two MBA Students Killed in Tragic Motorcycle Accident on Paud Phata Flyover
In a heartbreaking incident, two MBA students from Madhya Pradesh lost their lives in a fatal motorcycle accident on the Paud Phata flyover in the early hours of Monday. The victims, Sarvesh Gopal Patil (20) and Pushkar Sudhakar Choudhary (19), were returning to Chandni Chowk after a late-night snack at Nal Stop when their high-speed sports bike crashed into the flyover’s railings around 3:15 AM.
Senior Inspector Sandeep Deshmane of the Kothrud police stated, “The motorcycle skidded over 10 meters after the collision. Patil, the rider, was found unconscious on the flyover, while Choudhary was initially responsive. Both were rushed to a private hospital in Erandwane, where Patil was declared dead on arrival. Choudhary succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday.”
Police confirmed that no helmets were found at the accident site. Deshmane added, “An eyewitness reported Patil had a helmet on his arm, which fell off the bridge upon impact. Despite searches, we couldn’t locate it.”
Patil suffered severe head injuries, while Choudhary had a fractured rib cage and internal injuries. A passing car assisted police in transporting the injured to the hospital.
Both students were second-year MBA candidates at a Pimpri-based college and lived in Pimple Nilakh. Deshmane said, “They had gone to Nal Stop Chowk for snacks, but the reason for their return towards Chandni Chowk is unclear. Their families in Burhanpur are well-off farmers.”
The tragedy has reignited concerns over road safety and helmet usage. Police have urged motorcyclists to follow traffic rules and prioritize safety.
