Pune: Hinjawadi, Wakad, Baner, Balewadi and Nearby Areas Residents to Get Respite from Traffic; ₹785.75 Crore Approved for Service Road Upgrades
In a significant development for the residents of Hinjawadi, Wakad, Baner, Balewadi, and nearby areas using NH 48 for daily commute, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari has announced the approval of ₹785.75 crore for the improvement and rehabilitation of service roads on both sides of National Highway-48 (Pune-Satara section) within Pune’s city limits.
The project falls under the jurisdiction of PMC, PCMC, and PMRDA, areas that have witnessed substantial growth and industrial expansion in recent years. Due to the high volume of urban traffic in these regions, congestion and safety concerns have become pressing issues. The project aims to address these challenges by widening the service roads and upgrading the existing footpaths to stronger, more durable structures.
This initiative is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion around National Highway-48 in Pune, improving connectivity and safety for commuters and residents alike.
