In a bizarre twist of diplomatic drama laced with desi meme culture, the Government of India’s Press Information Bureau (PIB) trolled Pakistan with a hilarious Bollywood meme after Islamabad posted—and then denied posting—a request for “more funds” from the international community to fight a war with India.

WhatsApp Channel

It all started on Friday when the Economic Affairs Division of the Pakistani government posted a plea on X (formerly Twitter), asking its international “partners” for help citing “heavy losses inflicted by enemy” and urging support to “de-escalate the situation.” In simple terms: “We’re broke, please help us fight India.”

But when the post drew global chuckles and instant memes, Pakistan suddenly remembered a classic excuse: “Hacked!” Yes, Pakistan claimed its X account was hacked and that the tweet never came from them. Reuters picked up the denial, but netizens weren’t buying it.

And neither was India.

The PIB wasted no time and fired back—not with drones, but with memes. The Indian government’s media arm posted a clip from the cult classic Golmaal with the dialogue:
“Yeh koi tarika hai bheekh maangne ka?”
Translation: “Is this the manner to beg?”

Social media exploded. Indians joined in trolling the Shehbaz Sharif government, which is already limping under an economic crisis. One user posted a pic from Phir Hera Pheri with the caption:
“Only she can arrange funds now!”
Another joked: “Haters will say it’s been hacked.”

While the meme war raged online, the situation at the border turned fiery.

Late last night, Pakistan reportedly escalated tensions by launching over 50 drones and missiles into Indian territory. Fortunately, the Indian air defence system neutralized them mid-air. In retaliation, Indian forces targeted strategic sites in Islamabad, Lahore, and Sialkot, causing significant damage to Pakistani military assets.

India’s response was swift and sharp, following the April 22 terror attack on civilians in Kashmir and the retaliatory strike on May 7. Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri made it clear:
“Pakistan escalated the situation; we merely responded. The choice to de-escalate rests with Pakistan.”

Meanwhile, the internet had already declared its winner in the meme battle—and this time, PIB proved it’s not just about press releases, but also punchlines.
