Woman Dies After Falling Into Platform Gap While Getting Off Moving Train at Dadar
Mumbai, December 01, 2025: A 58-year-old woman from Andhra Pradesh died after she slipped while trying to get off a moving express train at Dadar station in Mumbai on November 27. Police said the woman had entered the stationary train to use the washroom, as she could not find one on the platform.
According to officials, the train suddenly started moving, which caused her to panic. She attempted to alight quickly but lost her balance and fell into the gap between the train and platform number 10. Her son, who was with her, and several local train passengers tried to help but could not pull her out in time.
She was taken to a civic hospital in critical condition, where doctors declared her dead on arrival. The family had travelled to Mumbai to visit relatives in Ambernath, Thane district. Her husband works as a cook on a ship in London.
Police have registered an accidental death case and are looking into the sequence of events that led to the tragedy.
