Woman Dies After Falling into Lift Duct While Making Reels in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: A 21-year-old woman tragically died after falling into a lift duct while filming social media reels in an under-construction building in Rayasandra, near Parappana Agrahara, on Monday night.
Victim Identified as Nandini from Chittoor
The victim, identified as Nandini, was a native of Chittoor in Andhra Pradesh and worked as a sales executive at a supermarket in Rayasandra, South Bengaluru. She was staying in a paying guest accommodation in the same area.
Fatal Incident During Social Media Reel Shoot
After finishing work on Monday, Nandini and three colleagues—two men and another woman—decided to celebrate. Around 8 PM, they entered an under-construction apartment building that had been embroiled in a legal dispute for a decade. With no security guard present, they accessed the site easily.
The group climbed to the 14th floor to film reels for social media. Tragically, while positioning herself near the lift duct, Nandini slipped and fell around 9:30 PM, plummeting to the ground floor.
Colleagues Flee, Police Alerted
Shocked by the incident, the two male colleagues fled the scene, fearing legal repercussions. The remaining female colleague immediately called police helpline 112. A Hoysala patrol team rushed to the spot and notified the Parappana Agrahara police, who are now investigating the case.
Lack of Safety Measures in Disputed Building
The building, which has been under dispute for 10 years, lacked proper security and safety measures, raising concerns about unauthorized access to construction sites. Authorities are examining whether negligence contributed to the fatal accident.
This tragic incident highlights the dangers of filming risky social media content in hazardous locations, urging caution among young content creators.
