Winter Intensifies in Pune: Mercury Falls to 9.3°C, Slight Rise Expected from Today

Winter Intensifies in Pune as several parts of the city and district woke up to sharp cold on Wednesday. The Pune region recorded single-digit night temperatures at multiple locations, marking the coldest spell of the season so far. According to IMD data, Shivajinagar touched 9.4°C, which is 5.6°C below normal. This is the first single-digit minimum of the season for the city.

Many areas in and around Pune saw temperatures dipping unusually low. The sharp fall shows how quickly Winter Intensifies in Pune this week.

Experts say Winter Intensifies in Pune mainly due to strong northerly winds blowing into Maharashtra over the last two days. These winds have pulled night temperatures down much below the normal range for mid-November.

State Shivers as Mercury Dips Sharply

The cold trend is not limited to Pune. Many cities across Maharashtra reported steep drops with temperatures falling 4 to 8 degrees below normal.
IMD data shows the following numbers:

• Jalgaon: 7.1°C (-7.7)
• Nashik: 9.2°C (-5.9)
• Satara: 10.6°C (-5.5)
• Ahilyanagar: 8.4°C (-5.3)
• Parbhani: 10.8°C (-5.8)
• Gondia: 9.6°C (-6.2)
• Yavatmal: 9.6°C (-7.4)
• Nagpur: 10.9°C (-4.4)
• Buldhana: 12°C (-4.5)
• Amravati: 11.4°C (-5.3)

Weather expert Dr Vineet Kumar also noted the unusual dip, pointing out that Winter Intensifies in Pune with Pashan at 9°C and Talegaon at 9.9°C.

Temperature To Rise Gradually

IMD has indicated that a marginal rise in night temperatures is expected from tomorrow as the impact of northerly winds reduces.

• Yellow alert for North Maharashtra on 19 November
• Night temperatures in Pune likely to increase slowly over the next few days
• Similar relief expected in parts of Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, and adjoining regions
