Video | Passenger Forced to Give Watch After UPI Payment Fails at Jabalpur Railway Station; Vendor Arrested

A shocking incident at Jabalpur Railway Station has raised serious questions about the safety of passengers and the conduct of vendors at railway platforms. A passenger was forced to hand over his wristwatch to a samosa seller after his UPI payment failed while his train started moving.
According to reports, the passenger had asked for samosas and tried to pay using PhonePe. However, the payment didn’t go through before the train started moving. The vendor, angered by what he felt was a waste of time, confronted the passenger and demanded payment on the spot. In the video that has since gone viral, the vendor can be seen holding the passenger by his collar and grabbing his T-shirt until the passenger removes his watch and hands it over. In a hurry to board the moving train, the passenger gave away his watch to end the confrontation.

West Central Railway’s Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Harshit Srivastava confirmed that the incident took place on the evening of October 17. The accused vendor, identified as Sandeep Gupta, was arrested under the Railway Act. Authorities have also taken steps to cancel the license under which he was operating.

The Railway Administration has assured that strict action will be taken to prevent such incidents in the future. Passengers have been urged to immediately report any form of harassment or misconduct by vendors to the Railway Protection Force (RPF) or station officials.
The incident has triggered public outrage on social media, with many demanding stricter checks on vendor behavior and better enforcement of safety measures at railway stations.
