Pune, June 08, 2025: A surreal scene unfolded in Pune’s Pimpri area on Friday night as water gushed out from the trunk of a Gulmohar tree in Premlok Park, drawing hundreds of awestruck residents. Initially believed to be a divine miracle, the spectacle quickly went viral, with videos showing devotees offering turmeric, vermillion, and garlands to the tree. Some even called it ‘amritdhara’ (nectar flow), while children splashed in the water.

The incident, occurring between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m. near Sahara Society, took a practical turn when Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) officials intervened. Deputy Engineer Pravin Dhumal confirmed that a leaking underground pipeline was the real culprit. “Water found an outlet through the hollow trunk. It’s not a miracle,” he clarified.

PCMC promptly shut off the supply and began repairs, opting to preserve the tree to avoid further damage. “We’re ensuring the tree remains unharmed while fixing the leak,” Dhumal added. The revelation ended the fervor, leaving residents amused at the unusual yet logical explanation.
