Uber Intercity expands to 3,000+ routes across India
Introduces limited-period Motorhomes in Delhi NCR to promote outstation travel
New Delhi, July 31, 2025: In a bold move to reimagine long distance road travel in India – Uber today announced the expansion of its Intercity product to over 3,000 routes across India, increasing the product’s footprint by 50% on city-to-city routes. In an effort to boost intercity travel, Uber launched a limited-period product featuring custom-designed Uber Intercity Motorhomes – a first-of-its-kind offering that provides a premium, comfort-first experience.
Uber Intercity’s growth mirrors India’s highway infrastructure growth which has in-turn boosted long-distance road travel between cities, spanning big metros and smaller cities alike. With strong year-on-year growth, Uber is investing in deeper coverage and more flexible options for outstation travel.

Speaking about the stellar growth of Uber Intercity, Shweta Mantri, Head of Rider Verticals, Uber India and South Asia said, “More and more people are choosing to hit the road for quick getaways, family visits, or even business meetings, and they want travel that’s easy, reliable, and comfortable. That’s exactly what Uber Intercity offers, and with the expansion of routes we’re doubling down on transforming outstation road travel for millions.”
In terms of most popular routes for Intercity, Mumbai-Pune, Delhi-Agra, Bangalore-Mysore, Lucknow-Kanpur, and Ahmedabad-Vadodara were the top 5 over the last 12 months, especially around long weekends and holidays. Weekends, led by Fridays, were the most popular days for setting out on intercity travels, with most riders opting to head out either during the early hours of the morning or during the relatively lean traffic hours of 2PM to 3PM. Rider interest surged especially during festive periods such as Diwali, Holi, Eid, and the summer wedding season.
Round trips are increasingly being booked for leisure travel, pilgrimages, and event travel, while one-way Intercity rides continue to be driven by visits to family and friends, business travel, and first/last-mile airport or railway access.
The limited-period campaign to promote Uber Intercity features specially designed Motorhomes that can be booked for trips starting from Delhi-NCR. Intercity Motorhomes come equipped with all the core product features riders get with Intercity rides, including advance bookings through Reserve, the ability to add stops along the way, real-time location tracking, and a 24×7 live support helpline. Intercity Motorhomes will be available from August 7 to September 6, with bookings opening on August 4 through the Uber app, which will display a dedicated icon for the product.

Each Intercity Motorhome is assisted by a driver and a helper, and seats 4-5 riders comfortably. The vehicles include entertainment and convenience amenities such as a television, lavatory, microwave, and mini-refrigerator, offering a full-service private lounge-on-wheels for weekend getaways or special travel occasions.
With the launch of limited-period Intercity Motorhomes, Uber is offering riders a glimpse of how technology can make long-distance road travel more comfortable, flexible, and enjoyable. The campaign aims to give riders access to a new and more immersive way of experiencing their long distance road travel journeys.
