A Delhi-bound SpiceJet flight from Pune was forced to turn back on Monday morning after the pilot detected a technical issue soon after takeoff. The Boeing 737 aircraft, operating as flight VT-SLG, landed safely at Pune International Airport.

The airline confirmed that all passengers were deplaned normally after the aircraft returned. While some travelers described this as an emergency landing, airport officials clarified that no emergency was declared and no Mayday call was made.

Free Press Journal wrote, “The pilot experienced a technical issue after takeoff and sought clearance from Air Traffic Control to return to Pune. The aircraft landed safely, and it was not an emergency landing,” Pune Airport Director Santosh Dhoke said.

However PTI too reported it as emergency landing and wrote, “Spicejet flight turns back mid-air, makes emergency landing in Pune due to technical glitch.”

The flight had taken off for Delhi but was diverted back midway and landed under precautionary conditions after about an hour in the air. SpiceJet said passenger safety was never compromised, and the situation was handled as per standard procedures.
