Shankh Air Takes Off: Uttar Pradesh’s First Scheduled Full-Service Airline Begins Operations
Lucknow | May 1, 2025 — In a historic moment for Indian aviation, Shankh Air, a Lucknow-based carrier, launched operations today, becoming Uttar Pradesh’s first scheduled full-service airline. With a vision to serve the common Indian with affordable, warm, and truly Indian air travel, the airline promises to connect key cities across the state and major metros.
It is not clear whether the airline will be operating from the upcoming Noida Jewar International Airport or continue to operate from Lucknow Airport, Shankh Air’s initial routes may include Lucknow (LKO), Varanasi (VNS), Gorakhpur (GOP), as well as Delhi (DEL), Mumbai (BOM), and Bengaluru (BLR) — forming a strong domestic network that caters to both business and leisure travelers.
A Strong Foundation and Vision
Chairman Shravan Kumar Vishwakarma, who has invested $50 million in initial funding, envisions Shankh Air as a people-centric carrier focused on accessibility and convenience. The airline is backed by its parent company Shankh Trading Pvt. Ltd., which has committed $200 million towards its launch and expansion.
“Our vision at Shankh Air is anchored in enhancing accessibility and convenience for travellers across Uttar Pradesh and beyond,” said Vishwakarma in an earlier statement reported by Aviation A2Z.
The airline aims to scale its fleet from an initial set of two aircraft to 15 Airbus A320-200s by 2026 and expand into international markets by 2027.
