School bus overturns in Haryana, six children dead several injured

The accident took place near Kanina village in Haryana’s Mahendragarh district. The bus was ferrying students to GRL School when it overturned.

Six children died and dozens more were injured. The school was functioning despite a holiday for Eid-ul-Fitr, officials said.

The bus was ferrying students of GRL School from their houses when it overturned while overtaking another vehicle on the road, sources said, adding that there were 35-40 Class 4 to Class 10 students in the vehicle. The injured students were rushed to a nearby hospital.

While the police have reached the spot and launched their investigation, they are yet to ascertain the identities of the deceased and the injured students. The school bus driver also sustained injuries.

The parents of the students and the school staff have reached the hospital, sources added.

Official documents show that the bus’ fitness certificate had expired six years ago in 2018.
