Raksha Mantri Approves AMCA Programme Execution Model to Boost Aatmanirbhar Bharat in Defence

New Delhi, May 27, 2025 – In a major stride towards strengthening India’s self-reliance in defence, Raksha Mantri Shri Rajnath Singh has approved the Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft (AMCA) Programme Execution Model, marking a pivotal moment for indigenous aerospace development. The Aeronautical Development Agency (ADA) will spearhead the programme in collaboration with Indian industry partners, fostering a competitive and inclusive defence manufacturing ecosystem.
Key Highlights of the AMCA Programme Execution Model
- Equal Opportunities for Public & Private Sectors:Â The model ensures a level playing field, allowing both private and public sector entities to bid competitively.
- Flexible Participation: Indian companies can bid independently, as joint ventures, or as consortia, provided they comply with national laws and regulations.
- Boosting Indigenous Capabilities: The initiative aims to harness India’s domestic expertise in developing the AMCA prototype, a critical milestone for Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance) in defence.
- Expression of Interest (EoI) Soon: ADA will shortly issue an EoI for the AMCA Development Phase, accelerating progress in this flagship project.
A Leap Towards Aatmanirbhar Defence
This decision underscores the government’s commitment to #AatmanirbharBharat, reducing dependency on foreign defence imports and empowering homegrown industries. The AMCA programme is set to enhance India’s combat aircraft capabilities while driving innovation and employment in the aerospace sector.
“This is a transformative step towards self-reliance in defence manufacturing, leveraging India’s industrial potential,” stated an official release.
