Railways Hiring Spree: 9,000 Jobs Filled in Q1, 50,000 More Coming in 2025-26!

The Indian Railways is on a massive recruitment drive, offering thousands of jobs as part of its expansion plans. In the first quarter of the financial year 2025-26 alone, 9,000 appointments have already been made, with 50,000 more jobs expected by the end of the fiscal year. This push is part of the 1.08 lakh vacancies announced since 2024, with another 50,000 positions planned for 2026-27.
Large-Scale Recruitment Exams Conducted Fairly
The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs) have been working tirelessly to fill these vacancies through Computer-Based Tests (CBTs). Since November 2024, over 1.86 crore candidates have taken these exams for 55,197 vacancies across seven different notifications.
To ensure transparency and fairness, the Railways has introduced Aadhaar-based E-KYC authentication for the first time in such large-scale exams, achieving a 95% success rate in verifying candidates. Additionally, signal jammers have been installed at 100% of exam centers to prevent cheating via electronic devices.
Easier Access for Candidates
Recognizing the challenges faced by applicants, the RRBs have taken steps to assign exam centers closer to candidates’ residences, with special consideration for women and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD). This initiative requires more exam centers and additional manpower but ensures a smoother and more inclusive recruitment process.
What’s Next?
With 12 recruitment notifications already issued for 1,08,324 vacancies since 2024, the Railways is set to continue its hiring momentum. Another 50,000+ jobs will be rolled out in 2026-27, providing ample opportunities for job seekers across the country.
This recruitment drive aligns with the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, reinforcing the government’s commitment to employment generation and nation-building.
