Pune News, July 03, 2025: In a horrifying incident that has sent shockwaves across the city, a 25-year-old woman was allegedly raped by an unidentified man who gained entry into her apartment in Kondhwa by posing as a courier delivery agent. The crime, which occurred around 7:30 PM on Wednesday, has triggered widespread outrage and fear among residents.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Rajkumar Shinde, the accused approached the victim’s flat in a posh housing society, claiming to deliver a parcel. When the woman, who was inside her home, refused to accept the delivery stating she had not ordered anything, the man insisted that her signature was mandatory. As she cautiously opened the door to sign, the assailant sprayed a substance (believed to be pepper spray) on her face, overpowered her, and sexually assaulted her.

In a spine-chilling turn of events, the accused then used the victim’s phone to take a selfie and left behind a threatening message, warning her not to report the crime as he had taken compromising pictures and would leak them on social media. Some reports also indicate that he wrote, “I enjoyed it” and ominously added, “I’ll be back.”

The traumatized woman, who lives with her brother, immediately alerted the police. A case of rape has been registered at Kondhwa Police Station, and the victim has undergone a medical examination. Authorities are analyzing CCTV footage from the society and nearby areas to identify and apprehend the culprit.

Police Investigation Underway

DCP Shinde confirmed that multiple teams are working on the case, but no arrests have been made yet. The brazen nature of the crime—where the attacker not only assaulted the woman but also left behind digital evidence—has raised serious concerns about safety in residential areas. Local residents have demanded increased police patrolling and stricter verification of delivery personnel.

Outrage and Fear Grip Kondhwa

The incident has sparked panic among women in Kondhwa and neighboring areas, with many questioning the ease with which strangers can access gated societies. Social media platforms are flooded with demands for justice, while women’s rights activists have called for urgent measures to prevent such crimes.

Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and verify the identity of delivery personnel before allowing them inside their homes.
