Pune Weather Alert: Day and Night Temperatures to Rise Quickly as Winter Fades | IMD Issues Advisory

Pune Weather

PUNE – It’s time to push those heavy blankets aside. Punekars should brace for a significant shift in weather as the city transitions into a much warmer phase. According to the latest data from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) and local monitoring stations, both day and night temperatures are set for a steady climb starting February 16.

While the early mornings still carry a slight nip, the “winter chill” is officially on its way out. A change in wind patterns, moving from cool northerlies to warmer easterlies, combined with minor moisture incursion, is responsible for this seasonal turnaround.

What to Expect: The 5-Day Outlook

The forecast for the next 4–5 days remains completely dry with no rain expected. Instead, residents will experience:

  • Intense Afternoons: Expect sharp sunshine with maximum temperatures hitting the 33°C to 34°C mark by early next week.
  • Warmer Nights: The minimum temperature, which was hovering around 14°C, is projected to jump to 17°C–18°C, making late nights and early mornings feel noticeably warmer.
  • Clear Skies: While morning haze or light mist might appear in low-lying areas, the rest of the day will see clear, blue skies.

Local Heat Map: Current Standings

Data from various pockets of Pune shows that some areas are already heating up faster than others. As of the last 24 hours:

  • The Hot Spots: Dudulgaon recorded the highest temperature in the district at 33.2°C, with Dapodi and Girivan following closely at 32.3°C and 32.1°C.
  • The Night Chill (for now): Haveli still remains the coolest spot at night with a low of 11.8°C, while Wadgaonsheri has already jumped to a balmy 20.1°C.

With the mercury expected to soar even higher toward the end of February, potentially crossing the 35°C mark in isolated areas of Maharashtra, citizens are advised to stay hydrated and protect themselves from the direct afternoon sun.
