Pune University Chowk Update: Final Load Testing Begins as PMRDA Prepares to Open Double-Decker Flyover Next Week

Pune University Chowk Update

In a significant technical milestone, Rinaj Pathan, Chief Engineer (Engineering-2 Division) of PMRDA, stated that load testing is currently underway on a massive 55-meter span (designated as P19/04 – P19/06). This testing is a critical safety protocol to ensure the structure can handle the heavy traffic flow characteristic of this vital city artery.

Final Safety Checks and Signage

Beyond the structural tests, the PMRDA is fast-tracking the installation of essential safety infrastructure. Directional signage and safety markers are being placed across the stretch to ensure a smooth transition for drivers once the flyover is inaugurated.

The project, a cornerstone of the Pune Metropolis infrastructure plan, aims to provide a long-term solution to the bottleneck at the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) junction, significantly improving connectivity between Shivajinagar, Aundh, Baner, and Pashan.
