Pune: Transport Officer Urges Vehicle Owners to Pay for HSRP Only via Official Portal

Pune News, July 14, 2025: Sub-Regional Transport Officer (RTO) Swapnil Bhosale has issued a crucial advisory for vehicle owners, directing them to make payments for High-Security Registration Plates (HSRP) exclusively through the official Maharashtra Transport Department website: http://transport.maharashtra.gov.in.

The move comes in compliance with the Supreme Court’s directives, which emphasize the importance of HSRP for:

Preventing tampering and counterfeiting of vehicle number plates,
Ensuring proper identification of vehicles on the road, and
Strengthening national security measures.

In line with these guidelines, the Maharashtra Government has made it mandatory for all vehicles manufactured before April 1, 2019, to be fitted with HSRP.

Mr. Bhosale has urged vehicle owners to complete the process at the earliest, as the deadline for HSRP installation is August 15. Failure to comply may result in penalties or legal consequences.

Authorities have also warned against fraudulent websites or agents claiming to facilitate HSRP payments, advising citizens to only use the official portal to avoid scams.
