Pune: Tragic Scooter-Truck Collision at Gangadham Chowk Leaves Woman Dead, Rider Injured

Pune News, June 11, 2025: A fatal accident occurred at Gangadham Chowk in the Market Yard Police Station limits this morning at 11:15 AM, when a truck (MH 14 AS 8852) rammed into a scooter from behind, resulting in the death of a 29-year-old woman and injuring the rider.
The victims have been identified as Jagdish Pannalal Soni (61), the injured scooter rider, and Deepali Yuvraj Soni (29), who was riding pillion and died on the spot. According to eyewitnesses, the scooter was moving ahead after the signal turned green when the truck hit them from behind.
Deepali Soni succumbed to her injuries immediately, while Jagdish Soni was rushed to Spiral Hospital, Gangadham Chowk, where his condition is reported to be stable.
Truck Driver Arrested, Case Registered
The truck driver has been taken into custody, and a medical examination is underway. The police have registered a case under BNSS Section 105 (equivalent to IPC 304) for negligent driving leading to death.

Locals have raised serious concerns over the unregulated movement of heavy trucks and trailers on Gangadham Market Yard Road, causing daily traffic disruptions.
