Pune Traffic Police Launch Major Congestion Relief Plan at Top 5 City Hotspots
The Pune Traffic Police, in coordination with the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Public Works Department (PWD), and other civic bodies, has rolled out a series of measures to tackle severe traffic congestion across the city’s busiest junctions.
The initiative targets Pune’s top five congestion hotspots — Mundhwa Chowk, Navale Bridge, Mummadevi Chowk, ABC Farm Chowk, and Sancheti Bridge — where thousands of vehicles pass daily, often leading to long delays and traffic snarls.
Mundhwa Chowk:
Discussions are underway for the construction of a new flyover to ease heavy traffic movement in this fast-developing corridor.
Navale Bridge:
Junction improvement and traffic segregation works are in progress to smoothen vehicular flow and reduce bottlenecks.
Mummadevi Chowk:
Road divider realignment and surface repairs are being carried out to improve lane discipline and enhance safety.
ABC Farm Chowk:
Road widening and divider alignment work is ongoing to handle increasing traffic volume in the area.
Sancheti Bridge:
Plans are in motion to widen the bridge and remove bottlenecks that have long been a cause of slow-moving traffic.
According to officials, the combined efforts of PMC, PWD, and Pune Traffic Police are expected to bring visible improvement in traffic flow at these crucial points once the works are completed.
