The incident took place when 41-year-old Anil Laxman Ambure, a resident of Warje Malwadi, was operating a bus on the Pune Station-Kothrud-Kumbre Park route. As the bus entered the busy market area, Ambure suddenly collapsed at the wheel, leaving passengers alarmed.

Traffic constables Romesh Dhaware and Archana Nimgare, who were stationed at Belbagh Chowk to regulate festival traffic, immediately noticed the commotion. They rushed to the bus, pulled the unconscious driver out, and administered first aid on the spot.

With the road choked with festive crowds and an ambulance unable to reach quickly, the officers flagged down a passing rickshaw driven by Rajesh Shankar Arkal. Without hesitation, Arkal joined hands with the police to rush Ambure to a nearby private hospital, where timely treatment saved his life.

Senior officials later praised the alertness of the police and the cooperation of the rickshaw driver, noting that their swift response not only saved a life but also prevented an accident in one of Pune’s busiest market zones.

The episode has earned widespread appreciation, with many hailing it as an example of how presence of mind and teamwork can avert disaster.
