Pune, January 22, 2026: The city is set to witness the final leg of the prestigious Bajaj Pune Grand Tour (BPGT) 2026. As Stage 4 of the cycling tournament kicks off on Friday, January 23, 2026, the Pune City Traffic Police have announced extensive traffic diversions and temporary road closures across major arterial routes to ensure the safety of participants and commuters.

The curbs will be in effect from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. According to an official notification issued by Himmat Jadhav, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), roads will be closed periodically as the race progresses. However, the department has clarified that no stretch, except for the Garware Bridge to Balgandharva Chowk section, will remain closed for more than 30 minutes at a time.

Key Route Closures and Alternates

The race covers a massive loop involving Baner, Pashan, Kothrud, Camp, and Deccan. Here are the primary diversions:

  • Radha Chowk to Sus Khind: Commuters heading to Hinjawadi from Radha Chowk should take a U-turn at Sayakar Chowk and proceed via Balewadi Phata, Jupiter Hospital, and Wakad.
  • Pashan Circle to University Chowk: Use the route via NCL, Abhiman Shree Society, and Baner Road.
  • University Chowk to Rajiv Gandhi Bridge: Traffic will be diverted via Spicer College and Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Chowk (Range Hills).
  • Karve Road & Paud Road: For those traveling from Karve Putala to Vanaz, the DP Road and Sutar Hospital route is recommended.
  • Central Pune (ABC Chowk to Savarkar Chowk): Use Kelkar Road, the Riverside (Nadi Patra) Road, or Tilak Road as alternates.
  • Camp Area: Traffic from Power House Chowk to Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Statue will be diverted via MG Road and East Street.

Finish Line Restrictions

The race will conclude at Balgandharva Chowk. The stretch between Garware Bridge and Balgandharva Chowk will see the most significant restrictions. Heavy vehicles are strictly prohibited from entering the city for the entire duration of the event.

Live Tracking for Citizens
