Pune: Thunderstorms and Rain to Continue for Next Few Days; IMD Issues Yellow Alert | Monsoon to Arrive Early
Pune is set to experience thunderstorms, lightning, and light to moderate rainfall over the next few days, as the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for the city and surrounding ghat areas. Gusty winds reaching 40-50 kmph are also expected at isolated places.

While the recent rains have brought some relief by lowering temperatures to a maximum of 37-38°C, high humidity levels of 60-70% are making the weather feel sticky and uncomfortable.
Southwest Monsoon 2025 Update

In a monsoon update, the IMD reported that the Southwest Monsoon has advanced over Southeast Asia, the South Bay of Bengal, and parts of the Andaman Islands, progressing seven days ahead of schedule. The monsoon is expected to move rapidly in the second week, likely reaching Kerala by May 27 and extending to Northeast India. By the end of May (third week), it is predicted to cover Goa, South Maharashtra, and Gangetic West Bengal. Residents are advised to stay updated on weather forecasts.
It is expected that the Southwest Monsoon 2025 will make an early onset in Maharashtra too with forecasted arrival in Pune on June 09 and Mumbai on June 10.
