Pune News, June 11 2025: Pune’s Hinjawadi-Maan area, home to upscale tech parks and corporate offices, faced yet another crippling traffic jam on Tuesday evening, leaving thousands stranded for nearly three hours. The gridlock, which began around 5:30 PM, stretched vehicle queues up to five kilometers, infuriating commuters—especially IT professionals—who questioned the administration’s inaction despite recurring congestion.

With rain-related waterlogging ruled out as the cause, frustrated citizens demanded answers: “If the weather isn’t the issue, what’s holding up the traffic?”

A Daily Nightmare for Commuters

Traffic snarls in Hinjawadi have become routine, particularly during peak hours (8:30 AM–11 AM and 5 PM–8 PM). Major routes, including Phase 1 to Maan, Wipro Circle to Amsterdam Chowk, Wakad Bridge to Shivaji Chowk, Bhumkar Chowk, and Pandavnagar to Maan Chowk, remain hotspots for congestion.

Root Causes of the Chaos

  • Narrow roads worsened by waterlogging during rains
  • Potholes and ongoing metro construction disrupting flow
  • Encroachments eating into road space
  • Heavy vehicles entering during peak hours
  • Undisciplined driving: wrong-side travel, illegal parking
  • Lack of traffic management and broken-down vehicles

Public Demands Immediate Action

Commuters are urging authorities to:
✔ Repair roads and clear encroachments
✔ Provide alternate routes during metro work
✔ Install smart traffic signals
✔ Enforce stricter traffic control, including peak-hour bans on heavy vehicles
✔ Deploy dedicated traffic personnel during office rush hours

With frustration mounting, the question remains: Will Pune’s IT hub collapse under its own growth?
