Accompanied by officials from PMRDA, MIDC, and the traffic department, Sule toured affected zones including residential complexes and adjoining villages, and engaged directly with the local population.

During her visit, IT employees submitted a formal petition via Change.org, now boasting over 26,500 signatures, highlighting concerns over traffic congestion, water scarcity, poor road conditions, lack of drainage, and inadequate civic amenities. The petition was presented on behalf of all IT employees by representatives Sachiin Londhe, Sachin Siddhe, Sachin Gunale, and Ankit Kothari.

Supriya Sule later convened a meeting at the Hinjawadi Grampanchayat office where issues were discussed in detail. Topics included drainage, traffic management, school transport, waste disposal, and the broader lack of urban civic infrastructure. Responding to all concerns raised, Sule assured residents of sustained follow-up.

MP Writes to CM Fadnavis, Demands Special Governance Body

MP Sule formally addressed Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis through a letter dated July 4, 2025 (Ref. Pune/CM/06/2025), stressing the urgent need for a dedicated governance mechanism and civic infrastructure overhaul for the Hinjawadi-Maan region.

In her letter, Sule emphasized:

  • Economic Significance: Hinjawadi, home to over 300 IT firms and 3 lakh professionals, is a major contributor to Pune’s ₹1.05 lakh crore in software exports.
  • Governance Gaps: Fragmented governance between Gram Panchayats, ZP, PMRDA, MIDC, PCMC, PMC, PWD, and Metro authorities has led to conflicting responsibilities and poor execution.
  • Water Crisis: Despite PMRDA’s Development Control Rules, there is no secured water supply; residents rely on tankers and borewells.
  • Flooding & Drainage: Encroachment and lack of stormwater infrastructure result in extensive flooding during monsoons.
  • Basic Amenities Deficient: Garbage collection, sewage systems, roads, public transport, police outposts, and recreational spaces are either missing or grossly inadequate.

Sule urged the Chief Minister to consider forming a Special Development Authority or merging the area with PCMC, based on what best suits the State Government’s long-term planning vision. She also stressed the need for a comprehensive Detailed Project Report (DPR) by PMRDA.

Direct Engagement and Road Surveys

Supriya Sule also undertook on-ground surveys of several key roads and junctions:

  • Hinjawadi Phase 1 to Maan Road
  • Maan Phase 3 to Metro Station Car Shed
  • Maan Phase 3 to Megapolis Road
  • Bhoirwadi Road
  • Hinjawadi Phase 2 to Dohler Company Road
  • Hinjawadi to Marunji Road T-junction

She observed that many roads were either incomplete despite approval or in a state of severe disrepair. Residents also pointed out that natural water sources had been blocked, causing rainwater accumulation, while power outages, noise pollution, and unauthorized construction by developers added to the woes.

Monthly Review Meetings and Follow-ups

MP Sule assured that she would personally visit the area twice a month to monitor progress and has proposed monthly review meetings until visible improvements are achieved. She emphasized her commitment to resolving these issues, even as a member of the Opposition, by extending full cooperation to the State Government.

Further, she announced plans to meet Industries Minister Uday Samant on July 8, and to pursue resolution through official meetings with the Pune District Collector, PMRDA, and MIDC. A stern warning was issued to local authorities—if desilting, debris clearance, and anti-encroachment actions are not completed by July 26, protests would be launched.

Sule also revealed plans to study traffic easing measures, such as altering school timings, and to explore best practices by reaching out to Bengaluru MP P.C. Mohan, who has corresponded with tech companies in a similar context.
