Pune: Strict Action Against Negligent Officials at Swargate ST Bus Stand – Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik

Pune, September 15, 2025: Transport Minister and ST Corporation Chairman Pratap Sarnaik has made it clear that serious mistakes by officials will not be overlooked. During an unannounced visit to Swargate bus stand in Pune, he warned that officials who fail in their duties will face immediate action.
Minister Sarnaik said, “Not taking action against negligent officers and reinstating them at the same post after suspension sends the wrong message and covers up their mistakes. This will not be tolerated going forward.” He was speaking to passengers and staff after inspecting facilities at the bus stand, including the waiting area, restrooms, and rest space for drivers and conductors.
He recalled the unfortunate incident that occurred at the Swargate bus stand in February 2025, which had shaken the state. In response, senior officials of the ST Corporation were transferred, and the station’s senior depot manager, junior depot manager, and two assistant traffic supervisors were suspended. A departmental inquiry was also initiated. “The inquiry should have been fair and unbiased, which is why transferring the accused to other locations was necessary. However, the regional manager went ahead and posted them at the same location, which is against the rules and undermines the process,” he said.
Minister Sarnaik also pointed out that such decisions give the impression that the government is shielding the guilty, and it breaks the trust of the public and the legislature. He announced that show-cause notices will be issued to the regional manager, and the suspended officers will be transferred to other locations immediately.
During his visit, Sarnaik interacted with passengers and staff, listening to their complaints and suggestions. He assured that the concerns raised would be addressed, and necessary instructions have been given to the concerned officers to improve services.
