Demolition Drive in Ramwadi

Pune, February 26, 2026: During crackdown on unauthorized constructions, the Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) carried out a massive eviction drive in the Siddharthnagar area of Nagar Road, specifically within the Ramwadi vicinity, on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.

The operation resulted in the successful removal of 216 illegal shanties that had encroached upon the designated area. According to Satishkumar Khadke, Chief Executive Officer of the SRA, the drive was part of a broader initiative to clear unauthorized settlements and streamline rehabilitation efforts in the city.

Tight Security and Execution

The demolition began early in the morning amidst heavy police presence to prevent any law-and-order situations. Despite some initial resistance from local residents, the SRA officials, backed by municipal machinery, proceeded to dismantle the structures.

“The action was necessary to ensure that urban development and slum rehabilitation projects proceed without hurdles,” stated CEO Khadke. He further emphasized that the authority is committed to reclaiming land earmarked for official housing schemes and public utility.

Impact on Nagar Road

The Ramwadi and Siddharthnagar stretches on Nagar Road have long been under the scanner for rapid unauthorized expansion. Residents and commuters in the area witnessed a day of intense activity as JCBs and demolition squads cleared the clusters.

Local authorities have warned that similar drives will continue in the coming weeks to deter further encroachments on government and SRA-notified land.
