Shirur, Pune – A speeding Toyota Fortuner lost control and rammed into a roadside shop in Sardwadi (taluka Shirur) along the Pune-Ahilyanagar road in the early hours of Sunday. The incident occurred around 4:30 am when the vehicle, traveling from Shirur towards Pune, struck the road divider and veered straight into a shop owned by Ashish Sarode.

Fortunately, the shop was unoccupied at the time, and no one was present on the street, preventing any injuries. The Fortuner came to a stop inside the shop without causing harm to the driver. However, the impact damaged the shop’s shutter, tin roof, and one wall.

Local resident Ashish Sarode, who owns the shop, immediately dialed the emergency helpline 112 to alert the police. Officials later confirmed that the vehicle is registered in Wagholi, and an investigation is currently underway.

This is not the first such incident in Sardwadi. A few days ago, a container had also lost control over a speed breaker in the same area and crashed into a nearby building, though no injuries were reported in that case either.

Residents and motorists have long been voicing concerns about the poor road conditions in Sardwadi. The Pune–Ahilyanagar road passing through the village is notorious for its traffic congestion, particularly due to the area’s popularity for street food like bhel.

Both sides of the village road feature poorly constructed speed breakers, leading to frequent accidents involving two-wheelers and other vehicles. Locals are now demanding that systematic speed breakers and proper traffic signals be installed to enhance road safety.
