The Regional Transport Office (RTO), Pune, is expanding its infrastructure by setting up three new driving test tracks at Hadapsar, Alandi Road, and Dive Ghat near Saswad. These tracks will complement the existing sensor-based facility at the Institute of Driving Training and Research (IDTR) in Bhosari Phata Chowk, officials confirmed.

Currently, learning licence tests are conducted at Sangamwadi RTO or online, while permanent licence tests for two-wheelers take place at Phulewadi RTO, and four-wheeler/heavy vehicle tests occur at IDTR. However, due to high demand—300 daily tests at IDTR and 200-250 at Phulewadi—applicants face delays.

Deputy RTO Swapnil Bhosale stated, “The new tracks will decentralize testing, reduce wait times, and use sensor-based tech like IDTR for precise evaluations.” Each centre will have dedicated tracks for two- and four-wheelers.
