Pune News: The ambitious Pune Outer Ring Road project, a ₹42,711-crore infrastructure initiative, has shifted into high gear with construction now underway across multiple segments. Spanning 172 km, this transformative project aims to enhance connectivity, reduce traffic congestion, and unlock urban development potential across the region.

Key Updates on the Pune Ring Road Project

1. Construction Begins in Nine Sectors

Initial groundwork, including land-leveling, bridge construction, and soil filling, has commenced in Khadakwasla, Mulshi, Chakan, Hinjewadi, Wadebolhai, Sinhagad, Urse, and Sortapwadi. This marks a crucial transition from planning to execution.

2. Land Acquisition Nearly Complete

Approximately 1,740 hectares have been acquired, with 99% completion in the western section and 98% in the eastern section, effectively removing major roadblocks.

3. Strict Deadlines & Penalty Clauses

Nine construction firms have been awarded contracts, with a strict 30-month deadline. Delays will incur penalties, ensuring timely project delivery.

4. “War-Room” for Faster Coordination

A dedicated war-room has been set up to streamline inter-departmental coordination, expediting land clearance and permit approvals.

5. Monsoon-Resilient Progress

Despite ongoing rains, construction will proceed uninterrupted in most zones, showcasing the project’s robust execution strategy.

Mahesh Landge, MLA (Bhosari), shared these updates, emphasizing the project’s significance in decongesting Pune and boosting future urban expansion.
