Pune Residents Welcome Relief as Temperatures Drop After Scorching Heat

After days of enduring intense heat, Pune has finally experienced a much-needed cooldown, with temperatures dropping significantly over the past 48 hours. On Wednesday, the maximum temperature fell from 37.2°C to 33.7°C and further dipped to 32.8°C on Thursday. Nighttime temperatures also stabilized at a comfortable 22.3°C, according to weather officials.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted that this pleasant weather will continue, with chances of rain expected until May 12. Senior meteorologist SD Sanap stated, “Rainfall is likely to remain confined to the ghat areas for the next two days, but light showers may reach Pune city by May 11-12. A yellow alert has been issued, and cloudy skies will persist for the next few days.”
Similar weather patterns are expected across Maharashtra, with northern regions and Vidarbha likely to receive light to moderate rainfall in the coming days. However, rainfall activity is expected to reduce after May 11.
The shift in weather is attributed to multiple atmospheric systems, including cyclonic circulations over Madhya Pradesh and troughs extending across central India. These conditions have contributed to the temperature drop not only in Pune but in several parts of Maharashtra.
Residents are enjoying the respite from the sweltering heat, though authorities advise staying updated on weather alerts as rain could impact daily activities.
