Pune Railway Station Installs 200 New Benches to Improve Passenger Comfort

Passengers at Pune Railway Station can finally look forward to a more comfortable wait. Responding to months of complaints about inadequate seating, the Pune railway administration has installed 200 new benches across the station, bringing much-needed relief to travellers.
More Seating for a Smoother Travel Experience
Over the past few months, passengers at Pune station often struggled to find a place to sit, with many forced to stand for long hours or sit on the floor while waiting for their trains. The lack of seating was particularly difficult for senior citizens, women, and families with children.
Taking note of these repeated complaints, the Pune railway division has now added sturdy iron benches across key areas of the station, including platforms, waiting halls, and entry zones. These benches are designed to handle heavy footfall and ensure greater comfort for passengers during busy hours.
Initiative Aimed at Enhancing Passenger Experience
According to a senior railway official, the project was rolled out in phases. The first phase introduced 50 benches, and after positive feedback, the initiative was expanded to 200 benches in total. “Our goal is to enhance the overall passenger experience at Pune station. The new benches will make waiting more convenient, especially during evenings and weekends,” the official said.
Commuters Appreciate the Improvement
Regular travellers have welcomed the move, calling it a “much-needed improvement.” A passenger, who commutes daily between Pune and Solapur, said, “Earlier, it was nearly impossible to find a place to sit during peak hours. People used to sit on the floor or stairs. Now, the station looks cleaner, more organised, and far more comfortable.”
With the addition of 200 benches, Pune Railway Station has taken a simple yet impactful step towards improving passenger convenience, setting a positive example for other railway stations across the state.
