Pune Railway Station Implements Strict No-Parking Zone to Tackle Traffic Chaos

In a decisive step to curb chronic traffic congestion, authorities have declared a 200-metre radius around Pune Railway Station a no-parking zone, permitting parking only in the station’s designated area. The new rule, enforced jointly by the Railway Police Force (RPF) and Pune Traffic Police, aims to tackle the unruly parking of private vehicles and auto-rickshaws that often bring the station’s surroundings to a standstill.
The decision follows growing frustration among commuters over daily gridlocks near the station’s entry and exit points. While parking is entirely prohibited in the restricted zone, vehicles like autos and taxis can make brief stops for passenger pick-ups and drop-offs—provided they do not obstruct traffic.
Additional Police Superintendent (RPF) Rohidas Pawar and Deputy Commissioner of Traffic Police Amol Zende spearheaded the move after reviewing the worsening congestion. “This measure is essential to ensure smoother movement and reduce unnecessary delays,” said Zende.
