Pune Police Announce Traffic Diversions During to Ease Congestion During Ramadan

PUNE – With the holy month of Ramadan underway, the Pune City Traffic Police have issued a special notification to manage the heavy footfall and vehicle density in the Kondhwa area. To ensure public safety and smooth traffic flow, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Himmat Jadhav, has announced temporary traffic restrictions and diversions effective immediately.

The areas of Sheetal Chowk, Ashoka Muse Society, Parge Nagar, and Kausar Baug typically see a massive surge in visitors during the evening hours of Ramadan. To tackle potential gridlock, the following changes will be in effect daily from 5:00 PM to 12:00 AM (Midnight) until the end of the month.

Key Traffic Diversions & Restrictions

As per the official order issued under the Motor Vehicles Act, several heavy vehicle restrictions have been placed:

  • Jyoti Hotel Chowk to Parge Nagar: All heavy vehicles and water tankers turning left from Jyoti Hotel Chowk toward Parge Nagar via Mayfair Junction are restricted as needed.
    • Alternative Route: Vehicles should proceed straight from Jyoti Hotel Chowk to Sheetal Chowk to reach Parge Nagar.
  • Parge Nagar to Jyoti Hotel Chowk: Heavy vehicles and tankers traveling from Parge Nagar via Mayfair Junction toward Jyoti Hotel are prohibited.
    • Alternative Route: Drivers should use the Parge Nagar Chowk to Sheetal Chowk route to reach Jyoti Hotel Chowk.
  • Sarvodaya Junction to Kausar Baug: Entry for all heavy vehicles and water tankers is restricted on this stretch.
    • Alternative Route: These vehicles must travel via Mayfair toward Jyoti Hotel Chowk.

Call for Public Cooperation

The Traffic Department has clarified that any existing parking orders in these specific areas stand temporarily canceled to accommodate these changes. DCP Himmat Jadhav has appealed to citizens to utilize the suggested alternative routes and cooperate with on-ground traffic police personnel and volunteers to ensure a peaceful and hassle-free festive season.
