Pune: PMRDA Takes Concrete Steps to Resolve Civic Issues in Hinjawadi – Metro Work, Drainage & Road Repairs Underway

Pune News, June 18, 2025: The Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has initiated urgent measures to address civic issues in Hinjawadi’s Phase 1, 2, and 3 areas, including monsoon drainage, road repairs, and other urban infrastructure challenges. The decision follows a high-level meeting chaired by PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase last week.
Key Officials Leading the Efforts
The implementation is being overseen by Additional Metropolitan Commissioner Deepak Singla, MIDC Joint CEO Vijay Rathod, PMRDA Chief Engineer Renaj Pathan, and Nitin Wankhede, along with officials from various departments.
Ongoing Key Projects
1️⃣ Removal of Construction Debris: Metro concessionaire companies are actively clearing debris between metro stations and viaducts to ensure clean and accessible transit zones.
2️⃣ Stormwater Drain Installation: MIDC is laying stormwater drains in multiple areas, including in front of the Dohler company, near Sai Proviso building, and opposite Metro Station No. 2 adjacent to forest land.
3️⃣ Cleaning Natural Drains: MIDC is also leading efforts to clean natural drainage channels along the metro corridor to prevent monsoon-induced blockages.
4️⃣ Unauthorized Structures Removed: PMRDA’s Development Permission Department has issued notices to the Vilas Javdekar project. Unauthorised ramps near Metro Station No. 3 have been demolished, and debris from Phase 2’s Pandavnagar area has been cleared.
5️⃣ Streetlight Repairs: Following a joint inspection by Tata, PMRDA, and MIDC, repair works are underway for the transfer and maintenance of street lights in the area.
6️⃣ Illegal Stalls Removed: Unauthorized stalls near Metro Station No. 1 have been dismantled.
7️⃣ Pothole Repairs: Both MIDC and the metro concessionaire are actively working to patch potholes across the Hinjawadi stretch to ease traffic flow.
8️⃣ Signage Installation: Tata company has installed directional and informational signage across station areas for better commuter guidance.
These actions are being implemented under the coordination of Additional Metropolitan Commissioner Deepak Singla, MIDC Joint CEO Vijay Rathod, and PMRDA Chief Engineers Reenaz Pathan and Nitin Wankhede, along with officials from various departments.
