In a major step towards resolving traffic congestion in the Hinjawadi region, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) has proposed the development of six strategic roadways. PMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase spearheaded the initiative, emphasizing the importance of efficient transport planning in one of Pune’s fastest-growing IT corridors.

On Thursday, Dr. Mhase held a direct dialogue with local farmers regarding land acquisition along the proposed stretch from the Mercedes showroom to Mahalunge (MIDC Circle). The meeting took place at the PMRDA’s Aundh office, where the concerns of the farmers were heard firsthand.

Dr. Mhase assured the farmers that the administration is committed to safeguarding their rights and welfare throughout the road widening and development process. He emphasized that no farmer would suffer financial or property loss due to the project. PMRDA officials reiterated their commitment to ensuring that the land acquisition process remains transparent, equitable, and in public interest.

The road planning comes as a crucial move to ease longstanding traffic woes in Hinjawadi, Marunji, and Mann areas—localities that frequently experience heavy congestion due to the presence of large-scale IT parks and residential complexes.

“This dialogue marks a significant milestone in resolving the region’s infrastructural issues,” said a PMRDA spokesperson. “We aim to strike a balance between development and the interests of local landowners.”

The meeting was attended by MLA Shankar Mandekar, Chief Engineer Rinaz Pathan, Planning Department Head Shweta Patil, Joint Commissioner of Land and Property Department Himmat Kharade, Superintendent Engineer Shivprasad Bagdi, along with several other PMRDA officials and affected farmers.

PMRDA affirmed that it remains committed to making clear, citizen-friendly decisions that consider the needs of both residents and the farming community.
