The intensive exercise, held on February 28, 2026, was designed to test the readiness and synergy between various relief agencies. Conducted across 10 strategic locations throughout the Pune district, the PMRDA teams took center stage at three primary sites, showcasing high-level expertise in life-saving maneuvers.

Tactical Excellence on Display

The drill put the PDRF personnel through their paces across a spectrum of high-stakes scenarios:

  • Water Rescue: Demonstrating swift extraction techniques for flooded zones and water bodies.
  • Rope Rescue: Specialized operations focused on retrieving victims from high-rise buildings and deep valleys.
  • CBRN Drill: A critical simulation for managing Chemical, Biological, Radiological, and Nuclear threats, ensuring the city is prepared for modern industrial or hazardous disasters.

Strengthening Inter-Agency Synergy

The primary objective of the 2026 mobilization was to refine the “Coordination Mantra” between the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), local municipal bodies, the District Disaster Management Authority, 108 Ambulance services, and the Maharashtra Police.

“Whether it is a natural calamity or a technical accident, preparedness and teamwork are the keys to success,” a PMRDA official stated during the exercise. “Our goal is to ensure a zero-delay response to protect the lives of Pune’s citizens.”

By participating in these large-scale simulations, the PMRDA continues to evolve its disaster mitigation strategies, ensuring that Pune remains resilient in the face of any unforeseen emergencies.
