In a bid to streamline ticketing and reduce disputes, the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) has urged commuters to purchase bus tickets immediately upon boarding, preferably at bus stops. This move follows increasing delays in online ticket issuance and frequent conflicts between passengers and conductors over small change.

PMPML officials noted that while the mobile ticketing app was introduced to speed up transactions and minimize cash dependency, network issues have caused delays in e-ticket delivery, leading to confusion during inspections. To avoid such problems, passengers are advised to buy tickets directly from conductors using electronic machines, especially when digital transactions face delays.

Nitin Narvekar, Joint Managing Director of PMPML, stated, “The mobile app was designed for convenience, but delays in ticket issuance have caused enforcement challenges. Passengers must ensure they have a valid ticket from their boarding point.”

Supervisory staff have reported a rise in cases where passengers fail to show tickets, citing pending online payments. PMPML has warned that such excuses will no longer be accepted. While the transport body continues to improve digital infrastructure, commuters are urged to follow ticketing rules to avoid penalties.
