Pune: PMPML Tourism Bus Service Receives Overwhelming Response; Over 3,400 Tourists Explore Pune in 3 Months

Pune, January 19, 2026: The tourism bus service launched by the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandalam Ltd (PMPML) has emerged as a major hit among commuters. In just the last three months, a staggering 3,404 tourists have utilized these services to visit popular getaways like Lonavala and Panshet-Varasgaon, generating a total revenue of ₹16.72 lakh for the transport body.

Growing Popularity in Winter Season

According to data released by PMPML, the demand for these special buses has seen a steady month-on-month increase. Nitin Gurav, the Tourism Bus Coordinator, noted that the winter season has significantly boosted footfall, with tourists preferring the safe and comfortable journey provided by PMPML to explore the scenic outskirts of Pune.

Significant Revenue from Pass Sales

In addition to the tourism buses, PMPML’s pass department has also reported a massive financial windfall. Over a three-day period between January 5 and January 8, the department earned ₹1.29 crore through various pass centers and mobile pass vans across the city.

Pass centers at Hadapsar, Swargate, Nigdi, Katraj, Bhosari, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), and Wagholi saw heavy crowds. Mobile units at Radha Chowk, SNDT College Metro Station, and Talegaon Dhamdhere also contributed significantly to the collection.

Kishor Chauhan, Public Relations Officer of PMPML, urged more citizens to take advantage of this facility. “PMPML provides a safe and reliable travel experience for tourists. We are seeing a daily increase in demand, and we encourage more residents to opt for these services for their weekend getaways,” he said.

With the success of the Lonavala and Panshet routes, PMPML continues to solidify its position as a preferred choice for affordable and organized tourism within the Pune district.
