Pune News, July 14, 2025: To enhance commuter convenience and safety, the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has announced the construction of 200 new state-of-the-art bus stops across the city.
Modern Amenities for Better Commuting
Under the Build, Operate, and Transfer (BOT) model, these bus stops will be equipped with advanced facilities to shield passengers from harsh weather conditions like sun and rain. PMPML Chairperson and Managing Director Deepa Mudhol-Munde shared these details during the ‘Pudhari Vyaspith’ event organized by the daily newspaper Pudhari.
Munde highlighted that the initiative comes in response to passenger complaints about inadequate waiting areas. Five pilot bus stops have already been set up at different locations, and based on positive feedback, the project will now expand to 200 stops citywide.
Key Features of the New Bus Stops
- Digital display boards with real-time bus schedules and route details
- Sheltered seating for protection from weather
- Clear signage with stop names and bus information
- Enhanced accessibility for all commuters
Passenger Response to PMPML’s Digital Initiatives
PMPML’s newly launched mobile app has already gained massive popularity, with 1.5 lakh downloads and 1.15 lakh daily active users. The app is primarily used for vehicle tracking, helping passengers plan their journeys efficiently.
Ongoing and Future Improvements
Munde also mentioned that PMPML has been upgrading older bus stops by adding essential details like stop names, timetables, and route maps. A dedicated campaign for this was launched three months ago.
“Our goal is to make public transport more commuter-friendly. These new bus stops are just the beginning—we plan to introduce more facilities in the future,” said Deepa Mudhol-Munde.
