Pune: PMPML Cracks Down on Ticketless Travelers and Errant Employees, Collects Over ₹21 Lakh in Fines
Pune, July 12, 2025 – The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) has taken strict action against both employees and passengers for misconduct and ticketless travel, recovering over ₹21 lakh in fines between May and June 2025.
Employees Penalized for Misconduct
During this two-month period, PMPML identified several employees engaging in negligent behavior and misconduct. A total of 1,453 employees faced disciplinary action, with fines amounting to ₹8,44,068. The highest number of penalties were imposed in May (768 employees), while June saw a slight decline (685 employees).
PMPML Chairperson Deepa Mhugol-Munde emphasized the need for discipline and courteous service among staff, warning that negligence and passenger mistreatment would not be tolerated.
2,578 Ticketless Passengers Caught
In a parallel crackdown, PMPML’s ticket-checking squads caught 2,578 passengers traveling without tickets, imposing fines totaling ₹12,89,000. The number of offenders surged after schools and colleges reopened, with fines doubling from ₹4.87 lakh in May to ₹8.18 lakh in June.
Strict Enforcement Measures
PMPML has mandated thorough inspections, ensuring:

✔ Drivers and conductors wear uniforms
✔ Vehicles are clean and passenger complaints are addressed
“No leniency for mistakes,” declared PMPML officials, reinforcing their zero-tolerance policy.
