Pune, May 25, 2025: A Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) bus got stuck in a large pothole near the Warje Malwadi bus stop on Sunday morning, highlighting the city’s lack of monsoon preparedness.

The incident occurred during peak hours, disrupting traffic in the area. While passengers were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported, the event has reignited public criticism of PMC’s road maintenance.

Eyewitnesses reported that the bus was maneuvering through a narrow lane when its wheel sank into a deep pothole, leaving it tilted and immobile. PMPML officials confirmed the bus was later retrieved, and PMC has been alerted about the damaged road.

This incident follows multiple monsoon-related mishaps in Pune, including waterlogging and deteriorating roads due to pre-monsoon showers. Recently, heavy rains caused chaos across the city, leading to waterlogging, power outages, and traffic snarls in areas like Shivaji Nagar, Baner, and Kondhwa. The IMD had issued orange and yellow alerts, warning of further disruptions.
