Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has issued a public advisory cautioning citizens against falling prey to unverified claims and rumors regarding the ongoing ward delimitation process for upcoming civic elections.

As per directives from the Government of Maharashtra’s Urban Development Department (Ref: MCO-2025/PR No. 242/Navi(UD)-14 dated 10/06/2025, 12/06/2025, and 23/06/2025), the PMC has initiated preliminary steps for ward formation ahead of municipal elections. The process includes verifying population data from the Census Office, assessing enumerator groups, and conducting site inspections.

Official Timeline & Public Participation

The PMC clarified that the draft ward structure will soon be published, after which citizens can submit objections and suggestions. Public hearings will follow to address feedback before finalizing the ward boundaries. All official updates will be shared on the PMC website (www.pmc.gov.in) and through authorized media channels.

Warning Against False Claims

The civic body emphasized that the ward formation process is still in its early stages, and no Enumeration Block (EB) mapping has begun. Despite this, some political representatives have allegedly spread misinformation about changes in ward structures. The PMC has dismissed these claims as baseless and urged citizens to rely only on verified sources.

Public Advisory

Residents are advised to:

  • Avoid believing or sharing unconfirmed reports.
  • Refer only to PMC’s official communications.
  • Submit suggestions only during the designated objection period.
