Pune, June 06, 2025: The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) intensified its city-wide anti-encroachment campaign with a major demolition drive on Fergusson College (FC) Road on Thursday. Acting on repeated complaints from citizens, PMC officials cleared illegal shops and reclaimed approximately 12,500 square feet of public space on Plot No. 614 B.

The drive was led by Executive Engineer Rajesh Bankar, along with Assistant Engineer Surendra Karpe, Junior Engineers Ranjeet Mutkule and Kiran Kalshetty, and a team of civic officials. The unauthorized stalls, constructed using temporary materials, were dismantled as part of PMC’s efforts to restore public spaces and curb illegal commercial activity.

This action follows criticism from Pune MP Murlidhar Mohol and State Minister Chandrakant Patil over unchecked encroachments. A similar drive was conducted last month between Garware underpass and FC College junction.

PMC has directed all regional ward offices to conduct such operations in their jurisdictions, reaffirming its commitment to urban order and lawful development. Officials confirmed that more anti-encroachment drives will follow in other affected areas.
