Pune: PMC Demolishes 9,700 Sq. Ft. of Unauthorized Structures in Undri Encroachment Drive
PUNE, March 18, 2026: In a major crackdown on illegal constructions, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) conducted a massive anti-encroachment drive in the Undri area on Wednesday, March 18. Targeting unauthorized tin sheds and roadside encroachments, the civic body’s Building Development Department (Zone 1) demolished structures totaling approximately 9,700 square feet.
The operation focused on illegal “front margin” tin sheds and extensions that had obstructed public pathways and violated building bylaws in the Haveli taluka region. To ensure a swift and effective cleanup, the department deployed a JCB machine alongside a team of ten specialized laborers.
Due to the scale of the demolition, a significant police contingent was stationed at the site to prevent any untoward incidents or resistance from local violators. The drive concluded successfully without any reported disruptions.
PMC officials have issued a stern warning following the action, stating that all non-compliant structures will be demolished immediately. Beyond the physical removal of encroachments, the administration intends to initiate both punitive fines and legal proceedings against the offenders.
“We urge all citizens to ensure they have obtained every necessary permit before beginning any construction,” a municipal representative stated. “The corporation will not tolerate illegal developments that compromise the city’s planning and road safety.”
The civic body plans to continue such drives across various zones to reclaim public spaces and enforce strict adherence to urban development regulations.
