Pune: PMC Begins Land Acquisition for Ganeshkhind Road Widening

The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has initiated the land acquisition process to widen Ganeshkhind Road between Agriculture College and Sancheti Hospital. As major infrastructure work including a flyover and Metro construction is already underway along the route, the civic body has now started expanding the existing road to improve traffic flow.
So far, PMC has acquired 12 properties for the widening project. In the upcoming second phase, the civic body will need to acquire 52 more properties—38 of which are privately owned, while 14 belong to government entities.
Additional municipal commissioner Mahesh Patil confirmed the development, stating, “As instructed by the municipal commissioner, we have started the land acquisition process.”
Besides the land from Agriculture College, the PMC will also require property from prominent institutions such as the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), and Akashwani.
This road widening project is expected to ease congestion and complement the ongoing Metro and flyover works in the busy corridor.
