Pune: PCMC Goes 100% Paperless with GIS-Enabled ERP System

Pune News – The Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has achieved a 100% paperless operation since April 1, 2025, as part of its new GIS-enabled ERP system. The system integrates SAP, Document Management System (DMS), Geographic Information System (GIS), and 26 other digital applications, streamlining governance and improving transparency.
Officials reported that over 32,000 inward letters and 3,700 files have been processed digitally across 54 departments. Key functions—including payroll, pensions, engineering, and property tax—are now managed online. In March and April alone, over 6,500 staff salaries and contractor bills were processed via SAP.
The engineering department has created 176 project estimations, now tracked in real-time on GIS maps for better monitoring. Additionally, citizen services like marriage registration, auditorium booking, and slum billing are now fully digital. Internal departments, including the library, security, veterinary, and municipal secretariat, have also transitioned to paperless operations.
Shekhar Singh, Municipal Commissioner, PCMC, stated, “We’ve built a system where files no longer move physically—everything is tracked, fast, and transparent. This digital shift reflects our commitment to efficiency, accountability, and smart governance.”
The move marks a significant step toward sustainable and tech-driven urban administration in the Pune Metropolitan Region.
